Today on CNN, I read an article about increased use of contraceptives and decreased abortion statistics. Research has shown that in the last five years, teens and adults have been going to the abortion clinics less, while not decreasing their sexual activity. Instead, doctors and scientists have developed better forms of birth control and other contraceptives, which explains the decrease in abortion rates. The controversy still stands whether contraceptives should be offered to younger children, or if products should be covered by insurance including birth control. Depending on government spending, only time will tell if the abortion rate will continue to decrease and the forms of contraceptives become more effective.
